LOUISVILLE, Ky. Norton Healthcare s Institute for Health Equity will have a future permanent home in The Village, a one-stop community shop in Louisville s Russell neighborhood opening this summer, officials announced Wednesday. The Institute, which launched in June, will work to mitigate and address problems as it relates to the social determinants of health on the corner of 12th and Jefferson streets, said Executive Director Dr. Kelly McCants. The planned space is not your traditional health care clinic, McCants said. Among other things, the institute will provide mental health and behavioral health services, he said, as well as social services. We want to position the Institute for Health Equity to serve as a central hub for community-based organizations and resources, he said, to come together to address factors that contribute to health disparities, including housing, healthy food options, transportation and child care. ....
