Oklahoma Universities React To Bill Signed By Gov. Stitt That Bans Required Diversity Training

By: Anjelicia Bruton
OKLAHOMA CITY -
Colleges are speaking out about a bill that bans them from requiring their students to have diversity training. Gov. Kevin Stitt signed the bill Friday.
According to House Bill 1775, K-12 schools are prohibited from providing courses that teach a student their race or sex makes them more superior to another person's race or sex.
The bill also says students enrolled in higher education institutions should not be required to attend training that presents any form of race or sex stereotyping or a bias on the basis of race or sex.
“This bill says that we're not going to teach people that because of their race or their sex they are inherently evil for something they had nothing to do with,” Rep. Kevin West, R-Moore said.

OU President Joseph Harroz responds to Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signing HB 1775

OU President Joseph Harroz announced in an email to the OU community Oklahoma House Bill 1775 was signed into law despite the university's “strong objection” to it.
HB 1775, originally an emergency bill regarding medical situations during high school sporting events, was rewritten into a bill implementing restrictions on certain gender and diversity theories being taught in schools.
The university and the OU Student Government Association released statements on Thursday urging Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt to veto the bill.
In the Friday email, Harroz wrote “although OU’s mandatory diversity, equity, and inclusion training does not espouse superiority of one race or sex,” the institution is impacted by the passage of the bill.

While the University of Oklahoma will comply with a newly-signed state law banning public entities from requiring students go through diversity training, the university’s president said Friday students will be encouraged to voluntarily participate in OU's diversity programs.
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt on Friday signed HB 1775, a bill that prohibits higher education institutions from mandating students go through “gender or sexual diversity training” or go through any orientation “that presents any form of race or sex stereotyping or a bias on the basis of race or sex.”

COVID-19 Caught Us All off Guard. Will Your Organization Be Ready the Next Time Chaos Strikes?

COVID-19 Caught Us All off Guard. Will Your Organization Be Ready the Next Time Chaos Strikes?
The pandemic threw us all for a loop. But Diana Hendel, PharmD, and Mark Goulston, MD, say there are plenty of other potential disruptions around the corner. Here are six ways to prepare.

Nashville, TN (April 2021)—When COVID-19 shook our world to its foundations a year ago, organizations had to reinvent themselves overnight. Supply chains faltered, consumer behaviors shifted drastically, and workers either moved home or had to navigate a maze of safety protocols. Leaders and employees alike had to scramble to adapt to the “new normal” of work and life, and it was beyond stressful—it moved us into trauma territory.

The complaints of expectant Marines have finally been heard.

New Marine Corps maternity uniforms: designed by women, for women > United States Marine Corps Flagship > News Display

QUANTICO, Va. --
The Marine Corps is improving many facets of maternity uniforms to meet the needs of all Marines.
In April, Marine Corps Systems Command will begin releasing a series of modifications to the service, dress, combat and physical training maternity uniform items to address capability gaps involving fit, comfort and appearance.
The efforts include improvements to existing uniforms and the development of new clothing items. The enhanced maternity uniforms incorporate clothing attributes reflective of innovative commercial industry technology in design and fabric development.
This multiphase project exemplifies the Marine Corps’ investment in equipping Marines with comfortable, effective clothing as well as their dedication to supporting the recruitment and retention of Marines—an objective featured in 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. David Berger’s Commandant’s Planning Guidance.
