The new faces of Florida's MBA professors bring eclectic mix of talent and knowledge

The new faces of Florida's MBA professors bring eclectic mix of talent and knowledge

DAVID L. MAJOR, 50 University of Miami, Miami
When Major joined the faculty of the University of Miami in 2019, it was a homecoming for the associate professor of professional practice. Major was born and raised in Miami, and his late mother worked in child care at the university, where he would head when his school day finished. “When I would get out of elementary school, I would spend my time running around that campus,” he says.
Now he’s teaching management and strategy classes in UM’s MBA program, where he takes an interactive approach in the classroom. “I make participation a huge part of my classes,” he says. “When it comes to strategy, it’s not black and white. There is so much in terms of gray areas, so talking through that is hugely important.”

PA United PAC updates 'Our Communities Can't Wait' candidate slate

PA United announced four petitioned candidates for its slate for State College Borough Council and Township Supervisor of Ferguson Township.
Tierra D. Williams, co-leader of the 3/20 coalition, is running for Ferguson Township Supervisor, according to a PA United press release.
The three open seats on the State College Borough Council also have PA United candidates: Divine Lipscomb, local activist and recipient of 2020 StandUp Award for Ethical Leadership, Rich Biever, local business owner and director of FUSE Productions, and Gopal Balachandran, former public defender and current assistant professor of clinical law at Penn State.
According to the press release, "Our Communities Can’t Wait” encourages candidates with “diverse life experiences” to be elected, rather than “traditionally ‘electable’ candidates."

2 Candidates Running for State College Mayor; 7 Seeking Borough Council Seats

State College will have a new mayor and at least two new borough council members in 2022, and the field of candidates in May’s primary election for those positions is now set.
Candidates had until March 9 to file nomination petitions and lots were cast for ballot positions on Wednesday morning.
In the mayoral race,
Ezra Nanes, both of whom previously announced their candidacies, are running on the Democratic ballot in the May 18 primary.
The State College mayor, who receives a salary of $13,000 a year, does not vote on any action of council, but presides over meetings and can veto or approve ordinances.

Robredo grateful to supporters for heeding call on community work

Vice President Leni Robredo
Robredo said she saw that her supporters went to different communities last weekend to help those in need.
“Gusto ko lang ulit magpasalamat sa ating supporters—marami na naman sa kanilang lumabas sa mga communities para tumulong (I want to thank my supporters because I saw many of them went out to communities to help),” she added.
The vice president saw supporters from Albay, Iloilo, and the National Capital Region (NCR). “Gusto ko lang magpasalamat na ginagawa nila ito. Kasi lahat naman ngayon nagsasakripisyo pero sila hindi alam mo iyon, hindi iniisip ang sarili (I just want to thank for what they did. Everyone is sacrificing but they, they did not think of themselves),” she said.
