Dog bites: Residents may move SC | Noida News

Picture for representational purpose only.
NOIDA: Troubled with the rising number of dog bite cases, a group of residents has decided to file a case in the Supreme Court next week.
They said while dog bite cases are increasing in the district, neither the Noida Authority has finalised an agency for sterilisation of stray, nor is the stock of anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) always available at government health centres.
They added that while there are several provisions for the safety of dogs, laws are silent on the safety of people from dog bites.
Estimates suggest that there have been over 100 dog bite cases in the past 10 days from across the city. While the anti-rabies vaccine is available at private hospitals, it is costly. Each of the five shots cost Rs 250-500 at private hospitals, the total treatment being Rs 1,250-2,500. However, there is usually no choice available since the doses seem to be in short supply at the district hospital.

Land along metro route to cost 14% more | Noida News

The authority, which will earn Rs 200 crore as revenue from the allotment, had received eight applications for six industrial plots that were available.
GREATER NOIDA: Putting an additional burden on the existing allottees as well as prospective buyers, the Greater Noida Authority has increased the land rates of all properties barring commercial by a little over 4%.
And on the lines of the Noida Authority, GNIDA has, for the first time, added a 10% premium on land situated within a kilometre on both the sides of the 7.2km-long metro corridor.
Now on, all the schemes launched by Greater Noida Authority will be rolled out at the revised property rates. As per the new rates notified by the Authority on Thursday, land premium for all the categories except commercial has been increased by 4.15%. For those looking to buy land close to the metro corridor, officials said the value of property will go up by 14.15% as GNIDA will apply a 10% premium on such plots.

Road through Sector 51 park for IKEA store sparks protest | Noida News

We have written to Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari stating our strong objection when it comes to giving access to the children’s park at Sector 51 to IKEA, said Sanjeev Kumar, the RWA general secretary.
NOIDA: Residents of Sector 51 have demanded restoration of parks and green belts in their area after the Noida Authority allowed construction material for the planned IKEA store to be ferried through a children’s park.
The area is categorised as a green zone in Noida’s Master Plan and residents fear that it will not be redeveloped as a green patch once the store construction is over.

Now, register waterlogging plaints on helpline | Noida News

Picture for representational purpose only.
NOIDA: Residents can now report instances of waterlogging and flooding on city streets directly to the local industrial development authority. Though the Noida authority spent crores to take preventive measures while carrying out civil work in June, waterlogging was reported from multiple spots on Tuesday and Wednesday after the downpour. Residents can now call on the monsoon relief line and register their complaints.
The authority issued the number 120-2423795 and officials said complaints will be handled within 24 hours.
While the condition of a large part of Noida-Greater Noida Expressway worsens every monsoon as the level of the carriageway does not end up channelising water to the storm water drains, water collects on the expressway at multiple spots between Sector 132 and Sector 148. However, the condition of the flooding and traffic movement has improved between Sector 126 and Dalit Prerna Sthal.

Noida to get 2 more sewage treatment plants by Nov | Noida News

NOIDA: The city is set to get two more sewerage treatment plants by the end of this year. In their final stages of construction, officials said, the STPs in sectors 123 and 168 will be ready latest by November 30.
The STP being developed in Sector 168 will have the capacity to treat 100 million litres per day, the second one in Sector 123 will process 80 million litres in a day.
Officials of the Noida Authority said that 70% of the work in both plants has already been completed and the remaining work will get over within four-and-a-half months.
While the structure of the plant along with boundary walls has been completed, the rotating biological contactor, sequencing batch reactor and raw sewage pumping station structure have to be established in the two locations.

NHAI's answer to jaywalkers: Iron barriers | Noida News

GHAZIABAD: It’s a habit as old as the old four-lane road, NH-24, ran through these parts. The four lanes have now become 14, with a six-lane expressway running within this behemoth, and new underpasses to cross over. But nothing has deterred the jaywalkers, not the highway’s wide span, not the climb over a concrete verge, not the fear of onrushing vehicles.
But the new iron barriers might just do the job. Designed to dissuade the most resolute of jaywalkers, highway managers appear confident it makes the challenge of crossing the highway on foot an insurmountable one. The barriers – grilles clamped to the concrete verge – are being installed at three points notorious for jaywalking: Noida Sector 62, Shani Mandir near Chijarsi and Vijay Nagar. The barriers are 5-feet high and will be placed on 3-feet-high concrete slabs.
