Former ESPN star is embracing “a whole other world.

Leaving ESPN is never easy. But Trey Wingo seems excited about the future. Wingo hasn’t unveiled his entire master strategy, but we now know a little more about his immediate plans.
His approach to his own free agency has been launching his own football-focused podcast called
PGA Tour Live. He’ll call the first two rounds of the Farmers Insurance Open from Torrey Pines on Jan. 28 and 29 which is welcomed news for Wingo and for those who care about high-quality broadcasting. 
“I thought I would always be at ESPN,” Wingo, 57, told Awful Announcing. “But there is a whole other world out there. I am enjoying that part of it. I never thought this would happen, but it has been really fun and enjoyable.” ....

On Dec. 16, 1984, the former St. Louis Cardinals playoffs arrived early. 
Entering the final week of the season, they were 9-6, and in second place in the NFC East. They trailed their next opponents, 10-5 Washington, and were ahead of the 9-7 New York Giants, who had lost the day before. 
St. Louis had defeated Washington earlier in the season, meaning that the final game between the two amounted to a division championship. 
A win on the road, and the Cardinals would be in the playoffs for the second time in three years. A Cardinals loss would put them behind New York, ending the season.  ....
