Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans. It provides designated time to recognize African Americans’ central role in U.S. history.
Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson, also known as the Father of Black History, and other prominent African Americans.
Since Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. East Tennessee is turning a spotlight on the inauguration, with less than a week away from the presidential transition.
While Washington D.C. security is preparing every area for January 20, an East Tennessee company is working to illuminate the inauguration.
Bandit Lites is hard at work installing 2,000 lights, stretched across two miles on the National Mall in front of the Capitol. ....

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - At this point, COVID-19 reinfections seem to be rare but, there is still a possibility it could happen.
According to the CDC, reinfection means a person was once infected with COVID-19, recovered, and later became infected again.
Based on what is known about similar viruses, the CDC says getting reinfected with COVID-19 is possible.
While there is still little knowledge on the topic, Dr. Sbar from Texas Tech University’s Health Sciences Center says there have only been a handful of reinfection cases in our area. ....
