The late Father Ted actress Rynagh O Grady will be remembered fondly in Rathdrum following her sudden passing at the Greenane home she shared with husband Eamon Murray on Sunday, February 7. Rynagh was best known for her work at the Abbey Theatre and as Mary in Father Ted . The Abbey Theatre described her as a beloved friend and colleague . Born in Dublin in 1954, she trained at the Abbey Theatre, and, after working with the Abbey Company for a year, left for London. She undertook a number of courses in England and Europe, including six months with Grotowski at his Theatre Laboratory in Poland. ....

At around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, a fire that originated in the bathroom of this house on County Road 629 near Etowah had flames visible in the front of the residence upon arrival of the fire department. The remainder of the house had extensive heat and water damage with all occupants getting out safely, according to officials. Etowah City Fire, Etowah Rural Fire, Englewood Rural Fire, West Polk Fire and AMR all responded with Claxton Rural Fire and Madisonville City Fire departments standing by for the districts.
