Calistoga family struggles as infant with Down syndrome suffers brain damage

Little Omar (Omi) is only 4 months old, was born with Down syndrome, and has struggled with medical conditions.
On the morning of Tuesday, May 5, his mother, Judy Gonzalez Hernandez, drove him to the hospital in fear of dehydration after he had a bout of vomiting and not wanting to feed. Once they reached the hospital, Little Omi then went into cardiac arrest and ended up in critical condition fighting for his life.
He was then transported by helicopter to the Oakland Children s Hospital, and after many restless nights, doctors were able to save his life. Little Omi suffered a tremendous amount of brain damage that has also affected his vision and mobility and will remain in the hospital for many weeks to come.  ....

Today, the President and Executive Committee of the Barbados Nurses’ Association greet all nurses in Barbados on our special day celebrating International Nurses Day. The theme for this year is

Nurses have spent the last year working under extremely trying conditions but have shown continued commitment and dedication to our jobs.

UK School Cancels Winston Churchill, J.K. Rowling for 'Intolerance'

A secondary school in England has removed the names of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and British wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill from school houses after teenage students branded the famous Brits as “intolerant”.
Students at the Seaford Head School in East Sussex claimed Sir Winston the man generally credited with marshalling the efforts to defeat the Nazis and routinely thought of as one of the greatest Britons ever– was a “figure who promoted racism and inequality, unfairly imprisoning and torturing many”. The school claimed that honouring him would go against the school’s policy against “intolerance and discrimination”. ....
