B.C.’s COVID-19 case counts have surpassed several markers.
New cases rose above 1,200 and hospitalized cases surpassed the 400 mark, which is a concerning new record. Active cases also surpassed 10,000 cases.
B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry provided a monthly modelling update presentation today, which included data about cases in schools and at workplaces, and Vancouver Coastal Health also provided an update on cases at Whistler.

This vaccine has not yet been shipped to Canada.
Meanwhile, the first case of blood-clotting from the AstraZeneca vaccine ( the COVIDSHIELD version from the Serum Institute of India) was reported in Canada today.
Health Canada stated that it will continue to closely monitor the situation, adding that it “continues to consider that the benefits of the AstraZeneca and COVISHIELD vaccines to protect against COVID-19 outweigh the potential risks”. ....

For the first time in several months, B.C. s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix issued a B.C. update on a Saturday.
As case numbers have been on an upswing and after seeing today’s record numbers it’s understandable why they wanted to get an update out over this long weekend.
Travel issues
Once again, Henry and Dix have emphasized that no one should be traveling, unless it is essential.
Yesterday, B.C. Ferries stated that the 11 a.m. sailing from Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island, heading to Tsawwassen, was delayed.
