Florida To End Weekly Unemployment Benefits In June: Here s Why

Jobless Americans in Florida will no longer receive weekly payments starting June 26
A recent jobs report showed there are more than 460,000 job openings in the state
Florida will still keep other unemployment benefit programs
Florida announced Monday the state will stop paying $300 weekly unemployment benefits to jobless residents starting June 26. 
The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity said the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program (FPUC), which gives $300 weekly to unemployed residents, will be suspended as the state hopes to fill half a million job vacancies. 
An April jobs report showed there are more than 460,000 job openings in Florida. Employment in the private sector also increased by 18,800 jobs.  ....

Where to get a COVID vaccine in Volusia/Flagler May 3-7


Flagler County started hosting clinics at local restaurants and businesses last week, which were a success, according to Bob Snyder, health officer at the Florida Department of Health - Flagler. 
We went to businesses like Finn’s and Tortuga’s in Flagler Beach; continued our partnerships with Parkview Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church; and operated a drive-thru after-hours site two nights off Airport Road, Snyder said.  Next week, we are adding new sites like the Palm Coast Community Center, AdventHealth Palm Coast and the Coquina Coast Brewing Company. This is all part of our plan to bring vaccinations to closer to where people live and work so we can reach community immunity as soon as possible.” ....

Flagler Beach Holding COVID-19 Events At Local Restaurants

Flagler Beach, FL – As mass COVID-19 vacination sites wind their services down, some local governments are setting up vaccination events at smaller venues.  The city of Flagler Beach will hold events on Wednesday and Thursday this week and on Wednesday and Thursday next week. Tomorrow, the first dose of the Moderna vaccine will be available at Finn’s Beachside Pub from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, things move to Tortugas from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Next week, May 5, The Anchor will be the location for vaccinations from 10 a.m. until noon. On Thursday afternoon,  vaccinations will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 at Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill. The Moderna vaccine is for those 18 and older. No appointment is necessary and second doses will be scheduled. ....

Vaccines Now Exceeding Demand, 'Ground Game' Targets New Veins

As vaccine supply edges past demand and the rate of those getting vaccinated is slowing, the Flagler County Health Department is shifting strategies and developing what one city commissioner described as a “ground game” in an effort to more broadly yet efficiently target new veins for inoculation around the county. To that end, the department is bringing four covid-19 vaccination opportunities to Flagler Beach this week and next, and by mid-May will make walk-in vaccination available at the Tax Collector’s office in the city, off of State Road 100, on Sundays, and possibly at other after-hour times. ....
