STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. –– A gleaming new pavilion the result of a $6.5 million renovation effort was unveiled Tuesday at Conference House Park.
The 3,000 square foot open-air pavilion rests upon the piles of the original structure, which was built in 1935 in Tottenville, the southernmost point of New York State. Over the years, the pavilion was worn down by storms. The Parks Department closed it in 2011 due to extensive damage that it endured during Hurricane Irene. ....

The River North project calls for three apartment buildings of 11, 25 and 26 stories high to be built on a two-acre site at 170-208 Richmond Terrace and 8-26 Stuyvesant Place. The project, proposed by Madison Realty Capital, requires a zone change to allow for the height of the two tallest structures, as those heights are currently prohibited on Staten Island.
For the project to come to fruition, the developer would also need to create a zoning text amendment to the Special St. George District, and would need a special permit for the project to move forward. Madison Realty Capital is also asking the city to approve a zoning map amendment for Richmond Terrace at Stuyvesant Place that wo ....

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. –– It has been almost 10 years since Schmul Park reopened after a $6.5 million renovation. Now, the park is showing its wear and Borough President James S. Oddo is determined to fix it.
On Friday, April 30, Oddo announced that Borough Hall is allocating $2.4 million of additional city funding to refurbish the park.
In 2012, Schmul Park reopened with a brand new playground. One of the most notable features of the playground was the colorful ground surface, which was safe but not durable and patches have deteriorated. ....
