With the end of the genre-defining reality show "Keeping Up the Kardashians" in sight, Kourtney Kardashian is trying to add some new skills to her resume before she hits the unemployment line. New video posted to her Instagram shows the eldest Kardashian sister in the early days of what we are guessing to be a tattoo apprenticeship. Her line work is a little shaky, but she seems to have the basics down. And, thank goodness, she is adhering to the proper blood-borne pathogen protocols, even if she could use a tighter fit on those gloves. With a couple years of practice and countless hours spent doing thankless tasks around the job, Kardashian may have what it takes to make it as an honest-to-goodness tattoo artist. Factoring in her experience in the world of reality television, we wouldn't be surprised if Kardashian ended up taking home the title on the 39th season of "Ink Master."

The first to officially set up shop, on Market Street in the 1920s, was Bert Grimm. Born in Springfield, Missouri, Grimm left home at age 15 with one goal: to become a master tattoo artist. In the summer, he traveled with carnivals, inking tattoos; in the winter, he haunted Chicago’s penny arcades, inking tattoos. “There’s two kinds of tattooists,” he told the
St. Louis Post-Dispatch in 1942. “Those who can face the guy a second time and those that don’t dare, the drifters, in other words.”
