Ignorance of Mob Shown in Attack on Senator – American Free Press

By Mark Anderson
Blank minds think alike; they do not think at all. How else to describe the recent baseless heckling and physical attack on Sen. Rand Paul and his wife, Kelley, by clueless leftist agitators? Thankfully, the attack on the Kentucky Republican as he left the White House grounds, just after hearing President Donald Trump’s Aug. 27 acceptance speech at the 2020 virtual GOP convention, did not result in any injuries, due to police protection. Sen. Paul later told Fox News, however, that he still feared for everyone’s safety and felt he and his wife conceivably could have been killed. ....

Biden wants to "reinvigorate" funding for the COPS office.

President Joe Biden was swept into office amid arguably the largest protest movement in U.S. history, so it’s worth taking a closer look at his chief public safety funding proposal, one that is central to his own legacy on police reform. Biden has promised to “reinvigorate” funding for the Department of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services, or COPS, office with a $300 million investment in putting new “community policing” officers on the street. But funneling Department of Justice dollars toward community policing initiatives and the COPS office is the wrong approach if the federal government truly wants to improve public safety and health for communities in this moment. It will neither drive structural changes to American policing nor tackle the root causes of gun violence in cities that have seen a sharp uptick in shootings since the pandemic’s inception. ....

Trump's Legacy of Border Security – American Free Press

By Mark Anderson
ALAMO, Texas Hundreds of Donald Trump supporters braved unseasonably chilly weather Jan. 12, near the border town of Alamo, Texas, in Hidalgo County, to greet the president as he visited the area to christen “the 450th mile” of new or upgraded border wall sections which represents roughly one-fifth of the 1,954-mile U.S. border with Mexico. Some far-flung border areas, as Mr. Trump and others have pointed out, have natural barriers like mountains, cliffs, and canyons that won’t necessarily require sections of wall.
President Trump landed that day in Air Force One at Valley International Airport in Harlingen, a former military airfield, before Marine One helicopter took him west to Miller International Airport in McAllen. He then traveled via his armored limousine to Alamo. Standing along a section of Highway 281 that was temporarily closed to thru traffic, his supporters cheered with considerable revelry and without any unlawful incidents. Security w ....

Pittsburgh council supports no-knock warrant ban, but will wait to pass a proposed law

TribLIVE s Daily and Weekly email newsletters deliver the news you want and information you need, right to your inbox.
No one on Pittsburgh City Council is opposed to enacting legislation to ban no-knock warrants in the city.
But council members Wednesday delayed passage of a proposed bill until it can iron out any legal issues with the law and meet with community members who are lobbying for it.
Bans on law enforcement agencies serving a warrant without announcing their presence have been lobbied for across the country since the March 26, 2020, shooting death of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Ky. Taylor was shot by plainclothes officers who entered her boyfriend’s apartment to serve a warrant that was part of a drug investigation. ....
