(FILE PHOTO)
NASSAU, BAHAMAS Acknowledging some initial “hesitancy” among some sectors of the nation towards the coronavirus vaccine, Minister of Health Renward Wells said the feedback from the general populous has been pro-vaccine, which bodes well for the government’s vaccination program.
Last month, former Minister of Health Dr Duane Sands told Eyewitness News that the hesitancy expressed by healthcare workers in The Bahamas and other organizations about taking the vaccine is “not to be taken lightly”.
He suggested the government needs to make more raw data available to these groupings and the general public to allay some of the “very real concerns”. ....

Commissioner Molibeli has failed and must go; analysts

Commissioner Molibeli has failed and must go; analysts
‘Marafaele Mohloboli
THE recent deaths of four police recruits just two days into their training at the Police Training College (PTC) is a clear signal of Police Commissioner Holomo Molibeli’s continued leadership and administrative failures which the country can no longer afford, analysts have said.
So grim are the failures that the only honourable thing left for him is to resign and leave the force in more capable hands, the analysts said this week. Alternatively, if Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro has any backbone, he should fire the commissioner and replace him with a more proven and competent candidate. ....

CPSA still “watching the trends”
NASSAU, BAHAMAS At least two groupings of healthcare workers who have been on the frontlines of the fight against the coronavirus since last March have expressed mixed views about being vaccinated, with some expressing a need for more information on the full impact of AstraZeneca as The Bahamas prepares for its arrival.
In an interview with
Eyewitness News, Consultant Physician Staff Association (CPSA) President Dr Sabriquet Pinder said consultant physicians, some of whom sit on certain subcommittees, are seeking to “tap in a bit more” with the Ministry of Health.
“So, we’re giving them some time as well, as well as the educational process or campaign that the ministry is planning to also engage in,” Pinder said. ....
