LAHORE : While May 1 is observed a holiday all over the world to honour the workers who won the right to eight-hour work day for workers across the world in May 1886, for labourers in Pakistan May 1 is still not a holiday. Most of them were at work on this day and many had a 12-hour work day which is very common. For those in whose name this holiday is observed, do not get a holiday.
Workers from across the country spoke about their working conditions in a virtual conference on this occasion arranged by Labour Education Foundation in the wake of Covid-19. Majority of M'sians want to protect themselves, families from Covid-19, survey finds


PETALING JAYA: A market research survey has found that the majority of Malaysians who registered for the Covid-19 vaccination want to protect themselves and their families from the virus.
Market research technology firm Vase.ai, said 84% of respondents of its survey wanted to protect themselves and their families from contracting Covid-19 as well as for the country to achieve herd immunity quickly.
The survey also found that 10% registered for the vaccine because they were told to do so, such as being encouraged by the government or were workplace requirements, while 4% wanted to be able to travel to other places.
The survey was administered to Vase.ai’s online panel, where 1,150 Malaysians were surveyed and of those, 48% of respondents are males and 52% females. ....

Joe Rogan has been slammed for telling some people they should avoid getting vaccinated to protect against the spread of Covid-19, but Spotify hasn t indicated it plans to take any action against the UFC commentator.
Speaking on his popular podcast, Rogan said for the most part it s safe to get vaccinated , but doesn t believe those who are young and healthy should get the jab.
The 53-year-old recommended vulnerable people should get the shot, adding that his parents had already been vaccinated. ....
