The Sindh High Court issued on Friday notices to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) director-general, Karachi Development Authority and other parties, seeking their replies on a plea pertaining to illegal occupation of amenity plots in Korangi.
At the hearing, the counsel for the petitioner maintained that the land mafia had illegally occupied state land in Korangi and consequently, the residents of Korangi were deprived of playgrounds and parks.
Besides, the petitioner has stated in the plea that the SBCA and other government departments are involved in land grabbing in the area and pleaded the court to order the restoration of amenity plots in Korangi.

Graft-tainted ASI is worth over a billion: ACB | Surat News

Multistorey bungalow of Mahadev Kishan Sevaikar in Pandesara area in Surat
Surat: Graft-tainted Mahadev Kishan Sevaikar, assistant sub-inspector (ASI), who had a monthly salary of around Rs 35,000 is a billionaire. Investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the Rs 4.5 lakh case of bribe in Pipodara GIDC has revealed that the arrested cop of the now-dissolved range operation group (ROG) has wealth worth over Rs 5 crore! The fresh ‘wealth of information’ has obviously led the ACB to initiate disproportionate assets case inquiry against Sevaikar.
ACB will now carry out in-depth inquiry into Sevaikar’s riches and a separate offence will be registered after the inquiry is over.

Jakarta. The government is confident Indonesia's economy would return to an expansion mode in the first quarter this year, banking on the government spending increase, manufacturing growth, and exports, after a persistent rise of the Covid-19 cases prevent the country from escaping its first recession in 22 years last year.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced on Friday that Indonesia's economy shrunk by 2.07 percent in 2020, compared to a 5 percent expansion in 2019. The largest economy in Southeast Asia declined by 2.2 percent in the fourth quarter from the same quarter a year earlier.

Lawmakers were briefed Monday night of security threats leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden just days after protesters descended on Capitol Hill in an attack that left five dead.
Capitol security officials warned members on the call of at least four armed threats across Washington, D.C. — targeting the U.S. Capitol, the White House, and the Supreme Court. One Democratic House member said the hourlong phone call was "horrifying, the most chilling hour imaginable," according to the
Hill.
Separately, Rep. Conor Lamb told CNN's
New Day that one threat involved "4,000 armed 'patriots'" surrounding the Capitol to "prevent any Democrat from going in."
