The drama series starring Chiwetel Ejiofor was originally developed for Paramount Plus, née CBS All Access. The show’s segue to Showtime is the second half of the decision made last month to send “Halo,” the long-awaited adaptation of the popular Xbox video game, to Paramount Plus after it had been years in the making at the cabler.

After months of buildup, ViacomCBS next week is set to flip the switch for Paramount Plus its bulked-up streaming platform engineered to throw bigger elbows in an increasingly crowded market.
For now, the pricing won’t change. But this summer, the media conglomerate will lower the entry-level price for Paramount Plus, the new name of the rebranded CBS All Access.

The base, ad-supported tier of Paramount Plus, launching in June, will cost $4.99 per month a dollar less than the current entry-level CBS All Access package with commercials. The full Paramount Plus premium tier with no ads (except in live programming) will be the same, at $9.99 per month. ....

ViacomCBS is going big in the streaming wars with a broadcast TV-inspired big tent strategy that will be anchored by legacy cable channel and programming brands.
On paper, the blueprint unveiled today during the company’s investor presentation for the March 4 Paramount Plus debut doesn’t sound like a path for success in today’s hyperactive media landscape. But little by little, ViacomCBS has already showed signs of making progress in the next iteration of television by its placing bets in familiar places.

ViacomCBS on Wednesday announced its beefed-up streaming service Paramount Plus, highlighting a dizzying mix of existing content, new shows and revivals of long-owned properties like the Seattle-set sitcom, in the latest bid by a media company to win streaming dollars.
This is a big day, a new day - a new beginning, said ViacomCBS chairman Shari Redstone, speaking from a virtual presentation on the Paramount lot in Los Angeles.
The company is betting that renaming and supercharging CBS All Access - its existing service -with a vast supply of new content will help it compete with Disney s Hulu, Comcast s Peacock, Warner Media s HBO Max and, to a lesser extent, Netflix and Disney Plus. ....

In a move that gives a clear indication as to the strategic importance of the platforms to the company, ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) has appointed Olivier Jollet to the newly created role of senior vice president of strategy and business development, streaming and head of mobile.
VCNI’s portfolio comprises a number of leading consumer brands. Its portfolio includes Channel 5, Telefe, Network 10, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Paramount Network, as well as streaming services Paramount+ and PlutoTV and ViacomCBS International Studios.
In his new role, Jollet will be tasked with driving mobile, streaming and business development strategy globally, continuing to expand VCNI’s mobile business, tapping into new, technologies including 5G and IOT to strengthen VCNI’s mobile strategy.
