Hospital hires new pharmacy director

An ever-changing profession and the ability to make a difference in a patient’s life is what drives Jonathan Beattie as a pharmacist.
As the new Pharmacy Director, Beattie has been overseeing Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County’s Pharmacy Department since November. He moved to Rock Springs from Casper, where he worked as Pharmacy Director for Community Health Centers of Central Wyoming.
“I enjoy the challenge of pharmacy,” he said. “The profession is always changing and pushes me to continue to learn every day. It’s a profession that collaborates with all levels of healthca. ....

VALLEJO, Calif. (KTVU) - As health leaders attempt to pick up the pace of vaccinations in California, a glaring disparity has emerged from the statistics. The number of Blacks getting the vaccine is low.
Black people are disproportionately impacted by COVID, but some of the least likely to get vaccinated. 
A black doctor in the Bay Area is trying to change that. 
About 4,000 Solano County residents, ages 75 and up, received the Moderna vaccine at a large-scale clinic over the weekend at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo.  ....

Auburn: Auburn University is fully resuming on-campus operations that were disrupted by the coronavirus last year. All optional remote instruction ended Sunday, and most employees who have been working on a virtual basis will return to campus Monday, the Opelika-Auburn News reports. The decision to reopen was based on multiple factors, said Dr. Fred Kam, director of the university medical clinic. “You’re looking at all the data, all of the information and … you’re forecasting on where you think things will be,” Kam said. The university has seen a downward trend in COVID-19 since 113 cases were reported during the week ending Jan. 17.
