HÀ NỘI Bùi Thanh Lam has been shortlisted to compete at the International Student Design Competition 2021 in London held by creative network Arts Thread.

Nỗi Nhớ (Missed and Remembered) is about her love and admiration for her grandmother who joined the Liberation Art Ensemble during the anti-American war.
My grandmother was one of many prime examples of a perfect woman, Lam said.
She was the model of my life, and I want to bring the same spirit from her times over to modern women. They are still as elegant as ever, but bring over a breath of fresh air. ....

Call for safe Bangladesh garment factories continues

The eighth anniversary of the Rana Plaza building collapse, which killed over 1,000 garment workers and injured thousands more, took place at the weekend. To coincide with the event there have been calls for consumers to campaign for safe factories for garment workers.

2020 second highest year for U.S. ag exports

Last year was the second highest year for U.S. agricultural exports, according to USDA s Foreign Agricultural Service s (FAS) 2020 U.S. Agricultural Export Yearbook. Total exports were nearly $146 billion, an increase of approximately 7%. This is the second highest level on record, after 2014.
FAS said the primary factor for the increase in exports was the increased shipments of soybeans, corn and pork to China.
Soybeans were the United States number one agricultural export at $25.7 billion, an increase of 38% over 2019. Soybeans represented nearly 18% of total U.S. agricultural exports in 2020, with China accounting for 55% of total soybean exports.
Corn exports were $9.2 billion, an increase of 20% over 2019, led by a $1.1 billion increase in exports to China. Mexico and Japan were the top two markets. ....

“Real Leather. Stay Different.” - Competition open to students worldwide

The Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA) has launched the “Real Leather Stay Different 2021 International Student Design Competition”, open to students from any country, reports ILM.

The LHCA said the international competition builds on a similar model to the ongoing competitions in Taiwan, China, UK and Italy. Held completely online, it is open to all students and recent graduates from any university in any country. “We believe this exciting event will help take our design competition to the next level”, said Stephen Sothmann, President, LHCA.
Selected by a panel of judges, the winners of the competition will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to London and have their product designs professionally manufactured and featured on the front cover of Rollacoaster Magazine, worn by a celebrity model. “We hope that a prize of this magnitude will encour ....
