PROVINCETOWN – Visitors appear to be venturing out and heading to Provincetown, with the COVID-19 virus threat abating and as advertising ramps up for the town’s  themed weeks. But there could very well be no room at the inn, according to local lodging owners.
We’re three weeks out from Memorial Day weekend, which is the unofficial start of the summer season,” state Sen. Julian Cyr said Thursday, May 6, at a regional media event. “We already are seeing an influx of both seasonal residents, returning workers and visitors.”
Upcoming themed weeks and weekends include Ptown Pride from June 4 to June 6, Fourth of July, Bear Week from July 10 to July 17, Family Week in late July and Carnival Week on mid-August, according to an email Monday from the Provincetown Business Guild. The Select Board on April 29 banned Fourth of July fireworks and the Carnival parade. The Provincetown Portuguese Festival on June 25-27 is subs ....

COME JUNE, Candace Bowen and her husband, John, will drive from northern Ohio to Eastham, to vacation in a rental house they rolled over from their canceled 2020 summer trip. They’ll spend the next three weeks photographing sunsets at Rock Harbor, sitting on First Encounter Beach, grabbing a bite at Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar, biking, doing jigsaw puzzles, hanging out with the kids and grandkids, and making their grown daughter listen one more time to that story about trying to eat Cape Cod sand when she was a child. After a year off, Bowen, a journalism ....

Provincetown: Mask mandate, indoor events, liquor sales rules relaxed

PROVINCETOWN The mandate to wear a mask outdoors on Commercial Street is gone. So is the 11 p.m. limit for alcohol sales at restaurants.
By Memorial Day weekend, live indoor entertainment (including at Provincetown Town Hall) can resume at 50 percent capacity, bars can reopen and gathering sizes indoors and outdoors can increase. Almost all COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted Aug. 1.
What won’t be happening in Provincetown this summer, though, are Fourth of July fireworks and a Carnival parade.
In unanimous decisions with minimal debate, members of the Select Board and Board of Health voted Thursday evening to rescind almost their entire June 1, 2020, joint emergency order the strictest on Cape Cod and instead align the town’s COVID-19 restrictions with the reopening timeline Gov. Charlie Baker announced Tuesday. ....
