Five months after a New York City nurse became the first person in America to get a coronavirus shot, at least 25 states are now reporting that more than half of their adult population has been fully vaccinated a major milestone in the fight against COVID-19.
Data published Sunday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that Washington, D.C. has also fully vaccinated at least 50% of people 18 or older and that Maine’s 62.9% rate of fully vaccinated adults is the highest in the country. Connecticut and Vermont are right behind Maine in the vaccination race, with 62.8% and 62.7%, respectively. ....

Frances Marie Schoenbauer, 79, of Waldorf, MD passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at her home. She was born on April 15, 1941 in Washington, DC to the late, Thomas Thompson and Myrtle (Grove) Thompson.
Sixty-five (65) years ago, Frances married the love of her life, Robert. They have weathered storms and rejoiced in the sunshine of a beautiful life together. They welcomed one son, Robert Jr. and showed him the value of finding your perfect match.
The couple worked together in their furniture repair business, Schoenbauer Furniture Service. Robert worked on repairing and restoring antiques while Frances ran the office and kept the business end of everything running smoothly. Frances could also be found popping into the workshop to get her hands dirty. She was happy to retire in 2014 and spend quality time at her home. ....

Pacific Pantry reports fewer users despite pandemic

Across the country, food banks have been reporting vast increases in demand for their support since the pandemic began as businesses close and new families lose jobs daily. But at least one Crescent City food bank is bucking that trend.
âItâs kind of counterintuitive of what we thought would happen,â said Amanda Hixson, who oversees the Pacific Pantry at the Family Resource Center of the Redwoods and directs the Del Notre and Tribal Lands Community Food Council. âWe donât quite understand why our numbers are down.â
Those numbers are the pantryâs usership statistics. In 2019, the pantry handed out self-selected bags of non-perishables just over 6,000 times. ....
