Ariel Pink and John Maus: the indie pop stars facing backlash for protesting at Capital Hill

They are best known for their woozy lyrics and experimental beats, but indie rockers Ariel Pink and John Maus have been caught in a social media crossfire after being pictured at the Trump rally which led to the storming of the US Capitol building.
The duo appeared in an Instagram post by filmmaker Alex Lee Moyer which showed them in a Washington D C hotel room, and was captioned: “The day we almost died but instead had a great time.”
Ariel Pink was also seen in a video by Lee Moyer on the White House lawn, asking her to take a photo of the massed Trump supporters, some of whom seemed brought along a specially decked-out armoured vehicle. ....

Among those supporters were indie musicians Ariel Pink and John Maus. A picture of the pair was posted on the private Instagram account of director Alex Lee Moyer, who was also in D.C. with them. Further footage of the group on the grounds of the Capitol during the insurrection have also emerged.

Ariel Pink has admitted to attending a pro-Trump protest at the White House yesterday, after filmmaker Alex Lee Moyer posted a photograph of Pink and John Maus together in the city. Pink says he was there to “peacefully show [his] support for the president,” but was not part of the mob that stormed the Capitol. The role of Maus, whom Moyer filmed observing crowds at the Capitol, is unclear.
