21 countries issued a joint statement condemning the Hong Kong government’s shutting down of the pro-democracy Apple Daily Newspaper.
The US and a number of allied countries, including the UK, Japan, and Germany, have condemned the crackdown by the Hong Kong government about the Apple Daily newspaper. 
The 21-country “Media Freedom Coalition” issued a joint statement released on Saturday titled the Media Freedom Coalition Statement on Hong Kong’s Apple Daily, they stated their condemnation of the use of a China-imposed National Security Law in Hong Kong to shut down the paper and arrest many staff members of the Apple News Daily.

Objectives
The UK supports the global Media Freedom Coalition and aspires to support efforts in
promoting media freedom locally as a global public good and be more proactive in defending
and supporting journalists. British Embassy Manila is seeking proposals which support
the following objectives:
Strengthen the legal and regulatory environment in which freedom of the press is
protected and respected;
Empower peer support networks to ensure media safety and promote an inclusive media
sphere.
All bids should be in pounds sterling (GBP). Bidders are strongly advised to limit their
proposals within the indicative funding brackets:
* £10,000 for Objective 1
* £5,000 for Objective 2
Proposals covering more than one objective are welcome. As are bids below these limits.

The Office of the Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Sunday strongly disapproved and firmly opposed a statement by the so-called “Media Freedom Coalition,” which accused judicial proceedings in Hong Kong, smeared the national security law in the HKSAR, and slandered the central government’s policy towards Hong Kong.
“It is a gross interference in Hong Kong affairs and China’s internal affairs, and is a blatant violation of the rule of law and judicial independence of the HKSAR,” the spokesperson of the office said.
