JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. Health departments throughout the St. Louis region say they are begging the state for COVID-19 vaccines.
One St. Louis area county feeling the squeeze is Jefferson County where the percentage of people vaccinated is lower than every county around it, according to state data.
Part of the problem could be that the county is not big enough to have multiple large hospitals to help with vaccine distribution and not small enough for the state to set up a National Guard-run mass vaccination site meant to help rural areas. ....

Missouri’s governor delivered an unprecedented State of the State Address on Wednesday afternoon in Jefferson City, in the Missouri Senate chamber.

Missouri House and Senate GOP leaders announced earlier in the day that the governor would deliver the speech in the Senate chamber. The speech is always delivered in the Missouri House chamber, across the Rotunda. House Speaker Rob Vescovo, R-Arnold, Senate President Pro Tem Dave Schatz, R-Sullivan, and other legislative leaders say the speech was moved from the House chamber to ensure that attendees could meet CDC guidelines recommending six feet of social distancing. ....

State of the State address comes amid COVID-19 concerns in capitol, increased vaccines across Missouri
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Governor Mike Parson began the annual State of the State address by touting Missouri s success in fighting COVID-19, but some were opposed to even having the address in person.
Just hours before the 3 p.m. address, the venue was changed from the House Chambers to the Senate Chambers across the capitol. The governor s office said the change came from a last-minute decision made by House Leadership because of COVID-19 concerns.
Parson started his address in the Senate Chambers by reflecting back on when the first case of the novel coronavirus was found in St. Louis in March. ....
