10 New Mexico counties receive Johnson & Johnson vaccine for COVID-19


LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County is one of ten New Mexico counties to receive initial doses of the newest vaccine approved for emergency use against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus on Tuesday.
State Health Secretary Dr. Tracie Collins said in a press conference Wednesday that New Mexico had received 17,200 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and the health department had prioritized counties that had received lower vaccine supplies relative to their positivity rates, as well as areas with highly vulnerable populations.
The new, single-dose vaccine was approved for emergency use by the federal Food and Drug Administration last weekend. On Wednesday, the White House said accelerated vaccine production getting underway would ensure that vaccinations are available for every American adult by the end of May.  ....
