Things look different from a bicycle seat. Not that I’ve been on one. Not for decades.
But Jeff McPartland of Hampden Twp., who, coincidentally, is four days older than I am, still rides. I mean the guy rides a lot. He’s been back and forth across the country several times and even toured Alaska on a bike. And he skis, too, all of which amazes me.
But this isn’t a column about his exploits. This is the sad story of what he sees while pedaling around central Pennsylvania. It’s not pretty. In fact, it’s just the opposite. It’s litter, and it’s just plain ugly. ....

Allegheny County Game Warden Zeb Campbell reports a number of nuisance turkeys in the area. Some are even attacking cars and chasing people. An investigation revealed the turkeys are being fed by someone in the same neighborhood.
Allegheny County Game Warden Zeb Campbell reports more ATV and dirt-bike activity on properties controlled by the Game Commission. These machines cause damage to property that upsets the property owners. Riding on these properties without landowner permission is a violation of the law.
Armstrong County Game Warden Christopher Bence reports charges have been filed against an individual for shooting protected songbirds within several safety zones. ....

WASD hotspots prove beneficial to off campus learning

The Waynesboro Area School District has implemented internet access points known as hotspots to ensure all its students have internet access while not at school and during remote learning days.
According to WASD Director of Technology Nic Erickson, a handful of WiFi hotspot locations are already in place with additional access points to be available in the near future.
The hotspots have a wide reach around their location and they are equipped with an internal GPS for security purposes, Erickson said. They can handle multiple logins at once so more than one student can login though each location. ....
