WASHINGTON – Sgt. Bruce Weaver recalls in an instant the heft of the chain that the all-white trainers at the Maryland National Guard forced him to wear during training at officer candidate school. 
For three days, Weaver, a Black soldier in the Maryland National Guard, hauled the chain – running, falling behind under the burden, being hectored by instructors. They claimed it would remind him to follow the chain of command. ....

Paul Harrington, A Flagler Beach Commission Candidate in March, Dies at 66 After Weeks of Struggles

Flagler Beach city commissioners could see that Paul Harrington was not well. He was sitting in the front row at the April 8 meeting, as he usually did since he started attending almost every commission meeting five years ago. The meeting was into its third hour when he had trouble picking up his drink, which spilled. Later he grabbed arm as if to keep it from shaking, but he wasn’t successful. Commissioners grew concerned as that went on for several minutes. ....

RPI graduate new commander for 53rd Digital Liaison Detachment


ALBANY, N.Y. — New York Army National Guard Col. Christopher Guilmette, a Voorheesville resident, is the new commander of the 53rd Digital Liaison Detachment, headquartered at the Park Avenue Armory in Manhattan.
He replaces Col. Todd Bookless, who took command of the Digital Liaison Detachment in 2018. Bookless is going on active duty with the military s Northern Command in Colorado, Springs.
The Digital Liaison Detachment, or DLD for short, works to coordinate, communicate and facilitate all aspects of military operations at higher level-headquarters. The DLD is specifically designed and dedicated to providing a critical capability for mission command liaison and interoperability. ....

VOORHEESVILLE New York Army National Guard Col. Christopher Guilmette, a Voorheesville resident, is the new commander of the 53rd Digital Liaison Detachment, headquartered at the Park Avenue Armory in Manhattan.
The Digital Liaison Detachment, or DLD for short, works to coordinate, communicate, and facilitate all aspects of military operations at higher level headquarters. 
Guilmette has served in the Army National Guard since 1997, when he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Maryland Army National Guard. He joined the New York Army National Guard in 2005.
In civilian life, Guilmette works as a professional engineer with Iron Mountain Data Centers. ....
