The High Court today cautioned Supreme Court lawyer Md Eunus Ali Akond for his conduct with the court at different times. Mr Eunus Ali Akond, you submit petitions before this court at different times, but you remained absent during their hearings. Besides, you sent message to lawyers with making various comments about the court. You have become an aged person. Be careful, the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir said.
The bench, however, exempted Eunus Ali from a Tk 10,000 fine imposed by it on May 5 for not appearing before the court after filing a writ petition challenging the legality of lockdown.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain today warned against posting or writing abusive and indecent comments on social media. Satire takes place even in the USA but those are not as indecent like the ones in our country. We have to keep in mind that the image of the country is priority. We are cautioning that we will not consider bail to those who tarnish the country s image in any manner, he said.
The chief justice issued the caution while presiding over a three-member bench of the Appellate Division of Supreme Court that was hearing an appeal.

The Appellate Division of Supreme Court today granted bail to Mohammad Asif, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a tribunal in a case filed over the death of his wife and Rajshahi University student Wahida Sifat in 2015.
The apex court also allowed Mohammad Asif to move an appeal before this court challenging the High Court verdict that scrapped the tribunal s judgment and ordered it (tribunal) to hold retrial of the case.
A four-member bench of the division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order following a leave to appeal petition filed by the convict challenging the HC verdict.
