Disclosure records of former Bloomberg Center co-director Klein sought in suit against Interior

Haaland
WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) - An open government, non-profit organization has sued the U.S. Department of Interior (DoI) for failing to immediately respond to its Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request regarding a former Michael Bloomberg-funded lawyer turned senior counselor to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.
Energy Policy Advocates complains in its federal lawsuit that the DoI unlawfully denied a speedy processing of ethics/recusal memoranda and documents involving Elizabeth Klein, who had served as co-director of State Energy & Environmental Impact Center (SEEIC) at New York University’s School of Law, a Bloomberg project that has paid the salaries of special assistant attorneys general, or SAAGs, in many blue states pursuing climate change litigation against Big Oil. ....

Climate activist's position at Interior is 'slap in face' to Sen. Murkowski, industry analyst says

Sgamma
WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) - A report that climate activist Elizabeth Klein has taken a high-level position with the Department of the Interior after the Biden Administration withdrew her nomination as deputy secretary is “contrary to the spirit” of an agreement that Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, a Republican, and others made with the administration, according to Kathleen Sgamma, president of the Western Energy Alliance.
“To take someone who couldn’t win a Senate nomination and put her in a position with no Senate oversight is a slap in the face to Senator Murkowski,” Sgamma told
Legal Newsline.
Klein’s appointment as senior counselor to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland was mentioned in a Law360 article about the Biden administration’s naming Tommy Beaudreau, with Latham & Watkins LLP, as the agency’s deputy secretary. ....

Breaking: White House Issues List Of "Initial" Orders On Gun Control

AP Photo/Lisa Marie Pane
The use of the word “initial” is important here, because it’s a signal that there are more executive orders on the way, but on Wednesday evening the White House released a list of “actions”, including several executive orders, aimed mostly at legal gun owners and imposing new restrictions on them via executive fiat.
Here’s the list as released by the White House:
The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.” We are experiencing a growing problem: criminals are buying kits containing nearly all of the components and directions for finishing a firearm within as little as 30 minutes and using these firearms to commit crimes. When these firearms turn up at crime scenes, they often cannot be traced by law enforcement due to the lack of a serial number. The Justice Department will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of these firearms. ....
