2 Pakistani Christian nurses charged with blasphemy, could face life in prison

Police in Pakistan’s Punjab province arrested two Christian nurses on blasphemy charges after hospital staff accused them of scratching a sticker with a verse from the Quran written on it off a cupboard. One of the nurses was allegedly attacked with a knife by a colleague.
The nurses, identified as Maryam Lal and third-year student Navish Arooj who work in Civil Hospital in Punjab’s Faisalabad city, were arrested on Friday, according to the United Kingdom-based nonprofit Centre for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement. ....

2 Pakistani Christian Nurses Charged With Blasphemy, Attacked by Colleague for Removing Religious Sticker

Two Pakistani Christian nurses were arrested in Punjab s Faisalabad City and charged with blasphemy after a complaint was filed against them by hospital staff on April 8.
While nurse Maryam Lal and 3rd-year student nurse Navish Arooj were working in Civil Hospital, Arooj reportedly wrote on a sticker inscribed with Durood Shareef (verses from the Holy Quran), according to the United Kingdom-based nonprofit Centre for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement (CLAAS).

Arooj was accused of removing the religious sticker, then handing it to Lal. A complaint was filed with the police against both nurses by a Muslim nurse named Rukhsana. An inquiry committee was also formed to further investigate the incident.  ....

Uganda: A Muslim man beat his 13-week-pregnant wife, causing her to miscarriage, after he learned that she had converted to Christianity.  On Jan. 13, Mansitula Buliro, the 45-year-old woman in question and mother of seven, was preparing for Muslim evening prayers with her husband when she began to have Christian visions.  On the following day she secretly visited a Christian neighbor, prayed with her, and put her faith in Christ. Right before she left, a Muslim man knocked on the Christian neighbor’s door and said, “Mansitula, I thought you were a Muslim how come I heard prayers mentioning the name of Issa [Jesus]?”  Then, when Mansitula returned home her husband informed her that he had been told that she had become Christian.  “I kept quiet,” Mansitula later explained in an interview: ....
