Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images Triller CEO Ryan Kavanaugh tells Mike Coppinger that Oscar De La Hoya’s September 11th comeback against former UFC champion Vitor Belfort, previously planned as an exhibition but now slated to be a “real fight,” will take place at Los Angeles, California’s Staples Center. Per Kavanaugh, the fight will be eight two-minute rounds at 180 pounds. De La Hoya (39-6, 30 KO) is coming up on 13 years since his last fight, a one-sided rout courtesy of Manny Pacquiao. The defeat capped a 2-3 skid that saw him stopped in nine by Bernard Hopkins and narrowly defeated by Floyd Mayweather in what remains one of “Money’s” closest fights.
Triller: De La Hoya vs. Belfort boxing match will be a pro bout, not an exhibition Share this story Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images We’ve seen the likes of Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather return to the boxing ring recently and make a gaggle of cash to engage in some exhibition fights. Tyson took on Roy Jones, while Mayweather carried Logan Paul. We also have the Jake Paul train, where he’s fighting pro bouts against MMA guys like Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley. To the surprise of approximately no one, 48-year-old Oscar De La Hoya wants some of that too. But apparently he doesn’t want to play around in no exhibition - he wants the real thing.
Vitor Belfort vs. Oscar De La Hoya Switched from Exhibition to Pro Match The upcoming boxing matchup between former UFC world champion Vitor Belfort and hall of fame boxer Oscar De La Hoya is now slated to be a professional boxing match after it was originally scheduled to be an exhibition and not count towards their boxing records. Belfort and De La Hoya will square off on September 11th in Los Angeles, and the California State Athletic Commission will regulate the bout and make it an official contest. It was originally planned to be promoted as an exhibition by Triller Fight Club.

Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images for Triller Triller are attempting to once again move the date for the Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr fight, and now they also intend on changing the location. Lopez-Kambosos caused a stir when Triller over-bid by a significant amount to win rights to the fight, and basically nothing has gone right for them since, not with this fight or in general. The fight was originally scheduled for June 5, then June 19, then Lopez got COVID and it was moved to Aug. 14, which was recently quietly changed to Sept. 11 on the FITE schedule, and now they’re booking it for October, and hoping that moving it to Australia might help them recover at least some money.
