Class of 2021: St. Thomas Aquinas High School honors top 10 students


Rosabella Daraoui, Co-Valedictorian
Rosabella is the daughter of George and Mona Daraoui of Rochester, New Hampshire. She is the younger sister of Karen, 21, and Jennifer, 19, both of whom are graduates of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She is also the proud older sister of Charbel, 10. Rosabella attended middle school at St. Elizabeth Seton School and is a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish in Rochester.
Rosabella is a member of the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society. While at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, she earned the Yale Book Award and the English Department Award (junior year), the Math Department Award (sophomore year), the French Department Award and Le Grand Concours Bronze Award (freshman year), and Le Grand Concours Honorable Mention (sophomore, junior, and senior years). ....

Biden halted border wall construction. Now what?


Now that Joe Biden is president, border wall construction has been halted, fulfilling one of the Democrat’s own campaign promises. Yet his overarching vision for the Borderlands remains vague. A White House fact sheet about Biden’s new immigration bill called for “smart border controls” that employ technology between ports of entry, which could mean surveillance towers and drones, but it is unclear whether he will remove the wall erected by his predecessor. 
In the absence of a clear plan, environmentalists like Pulliam and human rights advocates hope to have some influence over what happens next. It’s part of their plan to reimagine the Borderlands: making the area a place of restoration instead of destruction, a place of refuge instead of fear. ....

In the Coronado National Memorial where conquistador Francisco Vázquez de Coronado entered what is now Arizona contractors are pulverizing the wilderness in a rush to put up as many miles of border wall as possible before the Trump administration vacates Washington.
They re dynamiting mountainsides and bulldozing pristine desert for a barrier the incoming Biden administration is expected to cancel.
Wow! This is almost like busy work they re doing, exclaims biologist Myles Traphagen as he drives his truck up to the construction staging area and beholds the destruction for the first time. He specializes on the Arizona borderlands for the Wildlands Network. ....
