Workers in Britain support striking US Volvo workers
WSWS reporters spoke to workers in Britain who sent their support and solidarity to Volvo workers.
Around 400 bus drivers employed at
Go North West’s Queens Road depot in Manchester recently mounted an indefinite strike against their employer s plans to “fire and rehire” them on inferior contracts. After 11 weeks on strike, the Go North West action ended on May 17 after the Unite union reached a sellout agreement with the company, owned by global transport conglomerate Go-Ahead.

“We in the health service and all sectors of workers want to eradicate this deadly disease, but capitalist big businesses want to continue their profiteering.”

UK Educators Rank-and-File Safety Committee meets as governments pursue reckless reopening of schools
The UK Educators Rank-and-File Safety Committee held a powerful meeting Saturday with speakers from three continents, including three countries in the top-five internationally for COVID-19 fatalities the UK, the United States and Brazil. Between them, these countries account for more than 900,000 of the 2.58 million worldwide COVID-19 deaths.
The meeting outlined an international strategy based on a socialist programme to confront the pandemic which has swept the globe due to the homicidal policies of capitalist governments.
Committee chairperson and special needs teacher Tania Kent opened the meeting saying, “The political tasks and challenges confronting educators in the UK are the same as for workers worldwide: the necessity for a unified international campaign of action to protect lives.”
Facebook CEO Zuckerberg says company will “depoliticize” its News Feed
In a fourth quarter financial earnings call with investors on Wednesday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the social media platform was preparing to implement measures to permanently depoliticize the Facebook News Feed of billions of users around the world each day.

Zuckerberg, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and CFO Dave Wehner also discussed during the call the fact that the company beat analysts’ predictions and increased revenue over last year by 33 percent between October and December, taking in $28.1 billion.
