Today is the last day to register to vote by mail in the May 18 primary

Voters who want to vote by mail must have their application completed and submitted by 5 p.m.
Christa Miller, Lancaster Countyâs chief clerk of voter registration, said that as of Monday voters had submitted 26,309 applications for mail ballots and 25,258 ballots had so far been sent to voters.
Some 1,043 completed ballots had been received by the elections office, and Miller expected that number to increase later on Monday as the office continued to process the dayâs mail delivery.
Miller said voters applying today should not do so by mail, since the application will not be delivered to the county by the 5 p.m. deadline. ....

Up to 100 voters in Marietta, Mount Joy areas receive incorrect return envelopes due to vendor error

Fewer than 100 mail voters in two ZIP codes in the Marietta and Mount Joy areas received return envelopes intended for other people due to a vendor error, county officials announced Friday.
The Lancaster County Board of Elections became aware of the vendor error Thursday, after voters in ZIP codes 17552 and 17547 began receiving their ballots Thursday, said Christa Miller, the countyâs chief registrar. Voters who applied to vote by mail in these ZIP codes will likely continue to receive ballots that may have errors on Friday, Miller added.
While the mail-ballot packet will be addressed to the voter, the envelope used to return the ballot in the mail may have a different voterâs name on it, meaning a voter who uses it could be voting on behalf of someone else. ....

2,700 Lancaster County voters receive wrong instructions for mail-in ballots

Twenty-seven hundred Lancaster County voters who requested mail-in ballots for the May 18 primary election received a ballot packet that incorrectly informed them that they did not need to add postage to the return envelope.Â
The Lancaster County Board of Elections became aware of the error on Saturday, said Christa Miller, the boardâs chief registrar. Unlike in the November 2020 election, Lancaster County voters are required to pay the postage to return their ballots in the mail.Â
Voters can avoid paying postage by placing their ballot in the drop box located in the Chestnut Street entrance to the county building at 150 N. Queen St. in Lancaster city.Â ....
