New Jersey’s gubernatorial primary is in its final days. Republican voters will decide Tuesday which of the four candidates will challenge Democratic incumbent Gov. Phil Murphy, who is running unopposed.
“I don’t like Murphy at all,” said Larry Devore, adding that he doesn’t like the governor’s “heavy-handed” leadership style.

Community meeting held to discuss options to bring water to 27 houses near Benton and Tippah County line


“I think everybody that’s here tonight would like to get to the point to where there’s a water line in front of your house, there’s a water meter set off the right away onto your property, and you’ve got a service line coming into your house,” said Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley during a community meeting Thursday night in Benton County.
Presley and others discussed how to bring community water to 27 homes surrounding the Benton and Tippah County line west of Falkner. Each home in question has its own well and is not in any community water system’s territory. ....

By the time I published my first book
How to Break a Boy, in 2017, I’d been part of the young adult industry in some capacity for nearly five years, and gatekeepers and readers alike had long been proclaiming their love of unlikeable female characters. My main characters slotted neatly into the category they were brash, told damaging lies, hurt people, and sometimes, were just plain nasty and not even in that fun ‘nasty woman’ kind of way. I thought my book about a mean girl in the small-town South might generate some excitement.
It soon became clear that not everyone had the same definition of unlikeable as I did. ....
