Robert De Niro has joined Sebastian Maniscalco in “About My Father,” which will loosely be based on the stand-up comedian’s life and his relationship with his father, Nathan Kahane, president of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, announced on Wednesday.
Laura Terruso (“Work It,” “Hello, My Name Is Doris”) is directing from a screenplay by Maniscalco and Austen Earl. De Niro will play Salvo, Sebastian’s father. The official logline reads: “In the film, when Sebastian tells his old-school Italian immigrant father that he is going to propose to his all-American girlfriend, Salvo insists on crashing a weekend with her tony parents. Though cultures clash and it seems that the two families have nothing in common, by the end of the weekend, they’ll be

But the company smashed Wall Street’s earnings expectations

AMC Networks missed revenue expectations for the first quarter of 2021, when the company’s U.S. ad sales dropped 7%, according to its Q1 2021 earnings report released Friday.
However, AMC Networks smashed Wall Street’s earnings estimates for the quarter and also says its on track to hit its projected 9 million paid streaming subscribers target by the end of the year.
Wall Street forecast earnings per share (EPS) of $1.87 on $722.32 million in revenue, according to a consensus compiled by Yahoo Finance. AMC Networks reported adjusted EPS of $2.98 on $692 million in revenue.

RLJE Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, and Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, have acquired the North American rights to the horror film, JAKOB’S WIFE, ahead of its world premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival. RLJE Films plans to release the film in theaters and on Demand on April 16, 2021 and Shudder will premiere the film on its platform in later in the year. Shudder has also acquired UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand rights.
Directed by Travis Stevens (Girl on the Third Floor), he co-wrote the film with Mark Steensland (The Special) and Kathy Charles (Castle Freak).
