As an unruly crowd besieged Minneapolis' Third Precinct headquarters last summer, officers on the other side of the city destroyed a cache of documents, including inactive case files, search warrants and records of confidential informants.
In a private police report, Minneapolis officer Logan Johansson disclosed that he and other investigators in the Second Precinct to the northeast decided to destroy the documents shortly after May 28 "in direct response to the abandonment of the Third Police Precinct in Minneapolis by city leadership."
If the Second Precinct fell, this sensitive information could wind up in the wrong hands, Johansson wrote. "The data contained in these files could put the lives of CIs or various other cooperating defendants at risk."

Following the Paris Agreement in 2015, green investing has become an essential factor in sustainable development and investment strategy. It is being employed by major countries around the world, including the EU, the US and China for setting out targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote green new deals, and establish targets for achieving carbon neutrality.
After announcing its European Green Deal, which committed a total investment of €1 trillion ($1.19 trillion), the EU introduced the European Climate Law in March 2020, and followed it up with measures such as the guide on climate-related and environmental risks in November 2020, and the EU taxonomy. It has also announced that it will impose a carbon border tax on imports by 2023. President Joe Biden of the US has also announced, as a part of his campaign pledge, an environmental policy shift to rejoin the Paris Agreement, to invest $2 trillion in clean energy and infrastructure, and to introduce its own carbon border tax. Similarly, China has proposed green development as a long-term goal and announced its strategy for achieving carbon neutrality, in part, by improving its current energy infrastructure in 2021.

This is the next step the FTC has had problems with. Once the market was defined, Facebook had to show that it has market power. If you remove only one thing from this article, let it be this: In antitrust law, having market power, also called monopoly power, does not mean that a company is really big or has a big influence. Market power has a specific technical meaning: the ability to raise prices (or reduce quality) without losing customers to competition in the long run.
A common way to show power in the market is to show that a company controls a massive share of the market. This approach, known as indirect evidence, is presented by the FTC in December. There is only one problem. The sum of the evidence it offers is that Facebook “remained in the U.S. personal social media market (over 60%).” Boasberg’s views are understandable to catching the agency on coal. Where does the 60 percent figure come from? What 60%, exactly? (Users? Revenue? Time spent on the platform?) If Facebook has no other major competitors, who makes up the remaining 30-40 percent? “These allegations – which don’t even provide a true figure or range of Facebook’s market share over the last ten years – ultimately stop Facebook from believing that it has market power,” Boasberg wrote. “Almost every agency expects the Court to gesture the usual wisdom that Facebook is a monopolist.”

I met my now-husband in 1996 at a time when I never imagined we would be able to get married in the same sense that heterosexual couples do. After the U.S. Supreme Court decision in
Obergefell v. Hodges, in 2015 — and a 19-year courtship — we exchanged vows on a mountaintop in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, in Canada. At that time, we still couldn’t legally marry in our home state of Georgia.
When we adopted our first child in 2011, the State of Georgia did not allow us to adopt him as a couple. We each had to adopt him individually, and separately. Today, and together with my husband and two sons, I live in a neighborhood with no other families with same-sex parents. We proudly fly our rainbow flag in front of our home each June in celebration of Pride Month and how far we’ve personally come, with the support and love of our neighbors and community.
