The first of two 2020 studio albums from Taylor Swift is in turn the first top the UK Record Store Chart in the new year.
Folklore leads an obviously quiet week for new releases, with acclaimed 2020 albums from the likes of Laura Marling, Phoebe Bridgers and Working Men’s Club still proving popular, while the more recent McCartney III from Paul McCartney is at #11.
It’s now nine years since The Official Charts Company launched this chart as vinyl sales surged during the last decade, a trend which continued in 2020 as the format grew for the 13th consecutive year. It is compiled from the best selling albums at 100 of Britain’s leading independent music shops.

NEW figures released by record labels’ association, the BPI, using Official Charts Company data will show that alongside continued growth in streaming, which now accounts for around 80 per cent of UK music consumption, sales of vinyl LPs and audio cassettes surged ahead in 2020.
Fans turned to their favourite music in ever greater numbers to escape the lockdown blues, the figures will show.
There has never been so much choice in terms of how to discover, access and enjoy music. Most fans turn to the immediacy of streaming for much of their daily listening, but increasingly they complement this by collecting much-loved albums on vinyl, CD, download and even on cassette.

Fleetwood Mac and Oasis have helped the UK vinyl market increase for the 13th consecutive year.
The BPI is reporting a growth in UK vinyl sales by nearly a tenth when compared to 2019 despite a year largely lost to lockdown.
Also giving a projected Top 10 of the best selling albums on vinyl in the UK during 2020 ahead of its final results on January 4th, the BPI has perennial big sellers Rumours by Fleetwood Mac and Oasis’ (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? leading the way, though brand new releases from Idles and Arctic Monkeys have also proved popular.

Sales of vinyl records in the UK this year are the highest since the early ’90s, new data has revealed.
End-of-year figures released by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) show that sales have soared despite two national coronavirus lockdowns, with vinyl sales growing for the 13th year running.
The new figures reveal that nearly one in five (18%) of all albums purchased across 2020 were vinyl, with 4.8 million LPs being purchased. The new numbers are 10% up on 2019’s figures, and the highest since the Britpop boom of the early 1990s.

The latest figures for UK vinyl sales show a 10% increase during 2020.
The pandemic forced many to work from home, and to beat lockdown blues it seems music fans turned to vinyl.
A surge in sales for physical formats saw vinyl shelves heaving, with a 10% rise year on year.
It's more than double 2019's increase, and represents the 13th consecutive year of growth since 2020.
Classics by Fleetwood Mac, Nirvana, and Oasis lead the way, while new releases from AC/DC, IDLES, and the Arctic Monkeys live LP all make an appearance in the end-of-year rundown.

Bring Me The Horizon have made their 2016 show at London's Royal Albert Hall available online.
'Live At The Royal Albert Hall' captures the Sheffield band's one-off performance alongside a full orchestra and choir in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. They said:
"Our Live At The Royal Albert Hall performance in 2016 was such an incredible experience which pushed us fully out of our comfort zones at the time. We're stoked to be able to release this digitally as a gift to our fans to round up 2020."
