Inauguration Day: President-elect Joe Biden no longer taking Amtrak from Delaware to Washington, D.C. amid dramatically heightened security

PHILADELPHIA President-elect Joe Biden will no longer take the Amtrak to Washington next week to be sworn in as president, two officials familiar with the planning tell CNN, a sudden change that comes amid dramatically heightened security surrounding the inauguration.
A decision was made this week for Biden not to take the 90-minute ride from his namesake station in Wilmington, Delaware, officials said, with at least some of the concerns hinging on his arrival at Union Station in Washington, which is only blocks from the now heavily fortified US Capitol.
Biden previously had instructed his team to keep moving forward with the plans for inauguration, including taking the Amtrak, and to not be deterred by the deadly riot at the US Capitol last week or by complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic. ....

Parler App Ban and University of Denver Connection

After Twitter permanently banned President Donald Trump from Twitter on January 8 following a riot at the U.S. Capitol by his most rabid supporters two days earlier, many expected the Tweeter in Chief to shift his angry and aggrieved rants to Parler, the go-to app for far-right commenters looking to dodge what they view as the censorship of more mainstream services. But Parler has now been kicked off Amazon, Apple and Google in the wake of reports that it hosted violent threats in the lead-up to the chaos in Washington, D.C., on January 6.
Parler describes itself as  an unbiased social media focused on real user experiences and engagement. Free expression without violence and no censorship. But it has evolved into a free-floating platform for racism in general and white supremacy in particular, replete with extremism of the sort that sprang to life last week in Washington. And its origins can be traced back to Denver. ....
