Washington’s ‘joints for jabs’ program failing

It was designed as an innovative way to promote COVID-19 vaccinations, but a “joints for jabs” program in the US state of Washington is off to a rough start.
Officials on Monday announced that the state’s nearly 500 licensed marijuana retailers could begin hosting vaccine clinics and offering a single, free pre-rolled marijuana cigarette to anyone aged 21 or above who received a shot there.
It is one of many vaccine incentives being offered in Washington, including free pints of beer, sports tickets and prize money to lure those who have been hesitant or just lazy. ....

The Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board announced Monday that it has authorized “joints for jabs” promotions, providing a temporary allowance for dispensaries to give customers a pre-rolled joint if they get a COVID-19 vaccination on-site, at an in-store clinic.
The ordinance will be in effect until July 12, 2021. It will apply solely to cannabis dispensaries hosting an “active vaccine clinic event at the retail location,” and will be limited to one complimentary joint per customer. ....
