In interviews with CNN, some voters in New York’s 21st Congressional District, which Stefanik represents, say the congresswoman has worked hard for her achievements and are cheering her on as she appears poised to replace Rep. Liz Cheney, who has spoken out against Trump’s “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was stolen, as the next House Republican conference chairwoman. Man, 3-year-old son die after kayak flips on Lake Champlain | News, Sports, Jobs

WILLSBORO (AP) An upstate New York man and his 3-year-old son died after their kayak overturned on Lake Champlain, state police said Monday.
Patrick Wells, 28, and his son Beckett Wells were on a single-person kayak near the Willsboro Bay boat launch on Friday afternoon when the craft overturned. Both were found in the water unresponsive, according to police.
Police said the deaths of the two Willsboro residents were accidental. Investigators did not know why the kayak overturned.
An autopsy completed Monday determined Patrick Wells drowned due to hypothermia and cold water exposure.
Life vests were found near the victims in the water. Investigators were unsure if they were being worn before the kayak overturned, police said. ....

A northern New York man and his 3-year-old son are dead after a kayak they were using overturned on Lake Champlain, investigators with state police confirmed Monday afternoon. Police said 28-year-old Patrick Wells and his son, Beckett, were boating in Willsboro Bay on Friday when their single-person kayak overturned. Both were found unresponsive in the water at approximately 2:30 p.m., police stated in a news release.The man and his son were brought to the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh for treatment, where Patrick Wells was pronounced dead. Beckett was flown to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where he was pronounced dead the following day. An autopsy report released Monday determined the cause of death to be drowning and hypothermia due to cold water exposure. Both deaths have been ruled as accidental. Police Investigate After Father, Son Drown

New York State Police say a father and son drowned while kayaking on Lake Champlain Friday.
Police say they responded to the Willsboro Bay boat launch around 2:20 p.m. for an overturned kayak, which had been occupied by 28-year-old Patrick Wells and his 3-year-old son Beckett Wells of Willsboro.
They were found unresponsive in the water. Both were soon pronounced dead at regional hospitals.
