It all started when Keith Martin’s grandfather opened a taxi service on the first block of Rehoboth Avenue where Snyder’s Candy is now. As the go-to chauffer for visiting notables and glitterati from Washington, D.C. and New York City, he quickly discovered that he needed a spot where he could work on his vehicles. So he opened a little gas station at the corner of Rehoboth and Lake avenues. Back in the day, that was one of five gas stations that graced downtown Rehoboth Beach. ....

Steven J. Caisse has been named Athol Daily News Circulation Manager. He comes to the Daily News from the Clinton Daily Item where he managed the circulation department. He started in circulation at the Daily News, working from 1984-1987.
■Curt Rand, director of community service for the Athol-Orange Area Rotary Club, recently presented citations recognizing two local organizations for service to family and community. Rand cited the child abuse prevention services provided by Valuing Our Children and the values-oriented sports programs sponsored by the Athol Area YMCA.
■Kindergarten children at Sanders Street School meet weekly with third-grade buddies. They read aloud and do related projects together. ....

More than 250 Riverview residents are taking a crack at winning their town s first snow sculpture challenge.
Neighbours Tracy Keeping and Bonnie Moreton worked on their entry for two days.
With COVID, we are looking for things to do, said Keeping.
I suggested to Bonnie if we wanted to contribute we do a couple of gnomes.

The pair used their pre-made snow sculpture kits, handed out by the the Town of Riverview, to get started. ....

Many North Jersey restaurants have temporarily closed, hoping to save money on operating fees without shuttering for good.
This pause in service is a middle ground based on necessity. In New Jersey, restaurants can serve at 25% capacity indoors. The weather has prevented many customers from dining outside, and rising COVID-19 cases have encouraged others to simply cook at home instead of ordering or dining out.
Restaurants are dealing with crushing losses in revenue. The cost of operating a restaurant payroll, buying ingredients, utility bills outweighs the meager dollars coming in from the few customers placing orders, many restaurant owners say. ....
