Chinese honours compatriot martyrs in Vietnam

HANOI, April 3 (Xinhua): Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo and 30 other members of the Chinese embassy on Saturday paid tribute to Chinese martyrs ahead of the traditional Tomb-Sweeping Day that falls on Sunday (April 3).
At a cemetery in Gia Lam District of the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, Xiong and the members of the Chinese embassy observed a moment of silence and made a bow in tribute before laying a wreath to the martyrs monument.
The cemetery accommodates 48 Chinese martyrs who died while assisting Vietnam in the battles against French and American aggression and in the country s socialist construction.
Xiong said that in the 1950s and 60s, a large number of Chinese people answered the call of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to join forces with the Vietnamese people, and illustrated with their flesh and blood the patriotism, internationalism and revolutionary heroism of the Chinese nation, as well as the China-Vietnam friendship. ....

The man dubbed the “oldest living general” will celebrate his 107th birthday in Riverside Saturday, with a presentation by the mayor, an honor guard salute, proclamations and other tributes to mark the milestone.
Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Harry E. Goldsworthy, who was born in 1914, will be honored in an hourlong event near his residence in Westmont Village, a gated retirement community adjacent to March Air Reserve Base.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The Memphis VA Medical Center made the trip up I-555 to Jonesboroâs medical center, to provide vaccines to veterans in the most accessible way possible.
The clinic offered the one-dose, Johnson & Johnson version of the vaccine, adding to the convenience afforded to veterans who didnât have to travel to Memphis.
âWe have good data on where folks have been vaccinated and not vaccinated in our area,â said Kevin Freeman, the chief of Pharmacy Services with Memphisâ VAMC. âSo, we targeted Jonesboro as an area where we want to come. Itâs a little further out from Memphis, so we had good interest.â ....
