“Women had to literally fit into men’s clothing. just like they had to find a way to fit in an organisation built by, and designed for men,” Nelson said.
She found it encouraging the Defence Force had listened to criticism, and has begun to address these issues.
“Overall, I loved my time in the army and every woman I interviewed in my research had something to say [about how the army could improve] but they loved it too.”
There are so many positives to army life, from travel, training and comradery, to unique once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
The women just wanted to address the issues that made it difficult to feel comfortable, and relatively safe, doing what they loved, she said. ....

Titled ‘Brand New Day’, the campaign includes an interactive site with shoppable links, videos and a working from home playlist supported by Spotify.
