SCOTTISH Water has apologised to customers in Lerwick who have experienced discoloured water as a result of a fault on the local network on Friday.
The service provider said it wanted to reassure customers that their water remains safe to drink and use normally.
A spokesman said a fault with a pressure-regulating valve resulted in higher than normal flows through part of the local network.

This disturbed natural sediment within the pipes, resulting in yellowish and brownish tinges to the water as it came out of residents’ taps on Friday morning.
The spokesman said: “We would like to apologise to customers in Lerwick who experienced discoloured water following a fault with a valve on the local water network earlier today.

Poll blow to hopes of Scottish nationalists

A new poll suggests the Scottish National Party, or SNP, could fall short of winning a majority in Thursday's parliamentary election, which would dent their hopes of demanding a referendum on independence that could separate the nation from the United Kingdom.

Scottish Vote Could Put Independence Back On Table
Pro independence majority in Scottish parliament to push for indyref2, other parties describe election scheme as 'divisive'
A second referendum for an independent Scotland could be in sight after the May 6 parliamentarian elections if pro-independence parties win the majority of seats.
The nation, which voted to remain as part of the UK in a historic 2014 referendum, also voted in 2016 to remain as part of the EU; however, they had to leave the bloc as a majority of votes across the kingdom indicated an exit.
Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Nicola Sturgeon has repeatedly said her country would not be dragged out of the EU and she would initiate a second independence referendum, dubbed indyref2.
