The music will be back at Central Park’s Music Haven this summer.
For three Sundays in August, the outdoor stage in Schenectady will feature local musicians, like the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, and some from further afield, like Israeli/Iranian pop artist Liraz.
“I’m thrilled to keep Music Haven on the map this summer and welcome friends and neighbors back to the heart of the park,” said Producing Artistic Director Mona Golub,who has produced concerts in Central Park since 1990.
Last year, Music Haven was canceled due to the pandemic and planning this season came with several challenges, including restrictions on international travel. ....

The Schenectady Symphony Orchestra has announced its second virtual concert of this COVID-affected season.
Artistic Director Glen Cortese has arranged an all-Bach program titled, “Bach to Basics,” which will feature two of the Brandenburg Concertos, numbers 3 and 5, along with Cantata #160 and his own arrangement of “Sheep May Safely Graze.”
The concert, which is being performed and recorded Saturday night at Proctors, will begin streaming at 10 a.m. on March 15 and be available through the end of the day on March 31. ....

Holiday concerts are few and far between this year, but a handful of organizations are offering at least some cheery sounds.
The Schenectady Symphony Orchestra initially streamed their virtual “Poinsettia Pops” concert on Tuesday from the Proctors stage, but the concert is still available to listen to through Christmas Day. Music director Glen Cortese chose a wide-ranging program that includes holiday favorites like “Sleigh Ride,” “Little Drummer Boy,” selections from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” ballet, Vaughn Williams’ “Fantasia” from “Greensleeves,” and “The Little Drummer Boy” with local soprano Je ....
