Devils Lake - First Community Credit Union (FCCU) proudly announces it will be awarding a record $60,000 in college scholarships this year. FCCU will award 27 graduating high school seniors with college scholarships, the highest number of scholarships FCCU has given out in one year.
Ellie Volk of Devils Lake, ND is a recipient of a single year scholarship to the University of Mary. Volk, the daughter of Steph and Scott Volk, is a Devils Lake High School graduate.
FCCU and its Board of Directors are honored to provide 13 multi-year scholarships valued at $2,000 or $4,000 to the following students to use toward their college academia: Hattie Fitterer of Bismarck, Kendra Greshik of Wimbledon, Gracie Cole of Larimore, Lauryn Hibl of Jamestown, Derek Bear of Valley City, Allen Farrell of Larimore, Sydney Berg of Driscoll, Charmaine Haas of Napoleon, Ellie Wachenheim of Moorhead, MN, Lucien Harold Peterson of Wishek, Kendra Cle

Ella Weber is a recipient of a single-year scholarship. Weber, the daughter of Jenipher and Robert Weber, is a senior at Crookston High School and will graduate later this month.
FCCU and its Board of Directors are providing 13 multi-year scholarships valued at $2,000 or $4,000.
In addition, FCCU is providing 13 other single-year $1,000 scholarships. Along with Weber, another area student receiving a single-year scholarship is Quincie Floden of Euclid.

OK- I get it! There is a ton of frustration and anger out there on the Right over the “results” of the 2020 presidential election. As a result, there is inevitable silly talk and conjecture out there also: Trump will not leave the White House on January 20th, Trump will declare martial law and a redo of the election, etc. etc. Folks- it ain’t happening!
Trump is not even going to declare martial law selectively in states like Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Michigan- the epicenters of obvious fraudulent actions and actors. The talk and conjecture is nothing short of wishful thinking born of frustration.

FAIRMONT Local businesses continue to seek assistance from the financial impact of COVID, with the Fairmont Economic Development Authority approving three five-year $25,000 loans at zero percent interest on Monday.
FEDA received $670,000 to establish a CARES Act revolving loan fund to help small businesses, those with 50 employees or less, in Martin County. Loans can be used for working capital, payroll, inventory, and utilities. Any money not loaned out after two years must be returned to the federal government, but funds that are used will stay in a local revolving loan fund as loans are repaid.
The loan application from Korte’s Bar & Grill of Welcome indicated the loan proceeds would be used for payroll, lease/mortgage, utilities and to purchase equipment and remodel the interior of the building. Required collateral will be personal guarantees from owners James and Diane Korte and business equipment including a 2012 Dodge Ram.
