Print Although it makes her uncomfortable in her in-person interactions, artist Cassandra Schramm is still drawn to and fascinated by the human eye specifically the power of eye contact. That connection tends to be the focus of a segment of the art she creates. “There’s symbolism that has been linked to the eyes throughout history, throughout so many different cultures. The interpretation can be different, but the eyes are one of the most intriguing parts of what it means to be human,” she says. “To maintain eye contact with another person is a vulnerable experience … (the eyes) are what unites us, a commonality of the human experience.”
