Within the $621 billion earmarked for transportation-related infrastructure, $174 billion is directed at EV development.
Environmental and EV advocacy groups quickly applauded the plan, while acknowledging a desire to see even more attention in this direction. ....

California is by far the national leader in enabling the use of electric cars and medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks, according to a state-by-state evaluation
of electric vehicle policies and practices compiled by a leading nonprofit energy efficiency group.
“The State Transportation Electrification Scorecard finds that California is the only state to set deadlines for electrifying transit buses, heavy trucks and commercial vehicles,” said the report from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. “The state is also one of few to offer assistance for lower-income drivers replacing older, high-polluting cars with zero- or near-zero-emissions vehicles, and it plans to deploy chargers in economically distressed and environmental justice communities.” ....

Michigan lags in electric vehicle incentives, infrastructure

General Motors and Ford Motor Co. have been talking up their new electric vehicles, like the GMC Hummer EV and Mustang Mach-E, but the state they call home is no leader when it comes to the incentives and infrastructure that could pave the way for EV adoption.
Michigan ranked 29th out of the 50 states and Washington, D.C., in a scorecard of state transportation electrification released by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, a nonprofit research and advocacy group based in D.C.
California, where Tesla is based, topped the scorecard, followed by New York, D.C., Maryland and Massachusetts. ....

Vermont ranks seventh in nation for electric vehicle policy

First-of-its-kind analysis of 50 states and DC identifies leaders and laggards
Vermont Business Magazine With transportation now the largest source of US greenhouse gas emissions, several states, including Vermont, are taking comprehensive steps to help enable residents and businesses to use and charge electric vehicles, yet many others have done little to reduce barriers, according to a first-of-its-kind report released Wednesday by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.
The report finds that Vermont has taken a number of important steps to encourage and enable residents to use electric vehicles, but should rapidly step up its efforts – which could in turn reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change, decrease air pollution, and cut fueling and maintenance costs for individuals and businesses. ....
