Twixt two or three is his usual time He starts to stare, to tell me that soon We have to go for a walk He has places to go and things to smell P-mail to read at every stop sign Bushes to sniff, to enjoy every whiff Let’s just go ‘round the block The sound of his leash in the closet hung Sets him off, ears erect and tail high He willingly comes to be adorned And offer a happy bark So off we go on our appointed rounds Neither sleet nor rain or gloom of night Restrains this handsome, eager hound
The Bottom Line The final few days of Winter will feature quite a range of weather conditions. First you’ll need an umbrella. Then the winter coat. And then sunglasses, as sunshine and seasonable temperatures take over just in time for the start of Spring. Wednesday We’re now standing at about 24 hours of sprinkles and flurries. (There were a few isolated pockets of heavier rain around Tuesday evening too.) Our weather is still “blah” to start Wednesday, although it’s going to turn into a decent mid-March day overall. Sprinkles and light fog are hanging around, especially in southern and coastal New Jersey. By the 10 a.m. hour, drier conditions should prevail. Only peeks of sun are expected into Wednesday afternoon. But it will be about 10 degrees warmer than Tuesday, with highs close to 50 degrees.
9:00 PM UPDATE⦠There is a lot to talk about this evening! First of all, record highs were shattered in Connecticut today. The temperature reached 77 degrees at Bradley International Airport this afternoon, beating the previous March 26th record by 3 degrees.  It is a Greater Hartford record that stood for 99 years until today! In Bridgeport, the record was shattered by 9 degrees! The high was 79 degrees! The previous record was 70 degrees, set in 1954. Danbury was the warmest location in the state today with a high of 82 degrees. The other story is the wind. Gusts to over 50 mph occurred in some locations. There was a peak gust to 63 mph in New Haven early this evening! There was a gust to 51 mph in Bridgeport.

TONIGHT AND SUNDAY⦠Cloud cover will continue to expand across the state tonight ahead of our incoming low-pressure system. A few sprinkles may be possible while weâre asleep. Lows will dip into the 30s in the high terrain, but it looks like weâll be just shy of any freezing temperatures. This will be our last period of calm conditions before the fierce weather on Sunday. SUNDAY & MONDAY⦠Most areas will receive a shower by the late Sunday morning. Heavier precipitation will be reserved for the afternoon. Showers will be on-and-off. However, the downpours will be enough to give everyone a soaking. Despite the low surface temperatures, embedded thunderstorms look possible in the afternoon.
Get our free mobile app Rain will switch to sleet which will switch to snow Monday with most sleet and snow accumulations occurring along and north of Interstate 80, with moderate to heavy wet snow possible north of highway 30. The heaviest snow will fall early Monday, likely impacting the Monday morning commute.
Check on your commute here by checking all the Quad Cities traffic cameras. Total sleet and snow accumulations could be from 2-5 inches with winds gusting to 35 mph, reducing visibility to a half mile at times. Now while this may send shivers down your spine, don t expect it to stick around long. Temps will be back in the 40 s on Tuesday and above 50 the rest of the week. But with one more (hopefully only one more) wintery blast on the way for the Quad Cities, maybe it s best to start spring break week curled up in front of the fire watching one more snowfall.
